Amplification

Possibly the single most common modification for a combo amplifier is a speaker upgrade, and there are many out there in the market, from the likes of Celestion™, Eminence™, Jensen™ and more besides, made differently to suit different sounds and genres.

Many valve amp users will also look into different valves both for output stages and pre-amp stages. The very common 12AX7 (ECC83) even has some variants, for higher gain (usually for more distortion) for higher clean headroom or for lower noise.

Another popular mod to small valve amps like the Fender Blues Junior™ can be mods to improve the power supply to the power amp and to the tone stack as well, to change the frequency response and behaviour of the tone controls too.
